“Inaudible Ocean” Spectral Analysis and Sound Reconstruction (2024)

by Timothy Gmeiner (in collaboration with Lei Lang and Dr. Joshua Jones)

About: In collaboration with UC-San Diego and Scripps Institute of Oceanography, I assisted in “Inaudible Ocean”, a work in which infrasonic and ultrasonic oceanic mammal sounds are analyzed and processed toward the audible frequency range and used toward musical composition and performance. I was responsible for bringing these sounds into the audible human frequency range through spectral analysis, data organization, advanced audio editing and audio cleaning. These sounds are currently being used for collaboration with musicians in service of UC-San Diego professor/composer Lei Lang’s 2026 debut.

More details coming soon.
